The Cauldron: arts and music events at the Hemingford Arms

This message comes from Rebecca Stott.

cauldron AN00483006_001_mSome of us in Offord Road have organised a series of events called “The Cauldron” upstairs at the Hemingford Arms. The events will happen on the last Monday of every month throughout the year, starting on 29 April.

We have a great line-up of people, including the writers Sarah Dunant, Don Paterson and Kate Summerscale in the first season. Every season will include a local history slot; for the first, we have the producer of the BBC documentary on the Caledonian Road, who will talk about making the film.

Each evening will be built around a 40 minute talk but will have a mix (usually themed) of talk and music from London writers, musicians and actors. As you’ll see from the web site, there will be wonderful musicians (folk, jazz and classical) each time.

We want to make these into local community events and draw as many people as possible from the streets nearby.

To book a place for an event, just click on it at the Cauldron web site. Doing that will take you to a page that will tell you more about the event and lead you through the simple booking procedure (at the bottom of the page). Tickets cost only £5 each.

Only sixty or seventy people can fit in the room, and forty tickets were reserved more than two weeks before the first event, so if you want to be sure to get in, and not to be turned away at the door, you’ll need to book tickets online.

For example, for the event on 29 April (with the Italian Renaissance as its theme), click here.

We hope to meet many of you at the events.

The events are sponsored by Icon Books, local publishers (from North Road).
